Preparation & Submission of MSDS
[ What is a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)? ]
MSDS is a document that describes hazards, safe handling/storage/emergency response for chemicals for safe use and management. Industrial Safety and Health Act mandates MSDS to be prepared to be available at workplaces.

[ Who is required to prepare and submit ]
Those who intend to manufacture or import chemical substances or mixtures with hazard classifications for industrial use
[ Required documents ]
- MSDS
- Chemical identity and concentration in the product for those components not listed in the MSDS as not classified
※ Not required in case full composition is revealed in the MSDS. - Letter of Confirmation (LoC): Statement issued by foreign manufacturer that the components in the SDS are all that have hazard classifications
[ How to submit ]
- – When: prior to manufacture/import
- – Governing authority: KOSHA(https://msds.kosha.or.kr/)
- – Submission number: assigned upon submission
[ Submission of change ]
– When: upon change occurrence
– Any change in one of the followings is to be submitted:
- Product name (no change in composition)
- Name of components with classification, composition (no change in product name)
- Hazards and dangers

※ Grace period for MSDS preparation / submission:
16 Jan 2026 for those products manufactured/imported prior to 16 Jan 2021 at <1 tpa
